Dr Katherine Spira is a general neurologist with subspecialty interests in headache, obstetric neurology and functional neurological disorders. She is principal Neurologist at Spira Neurology, and is an Honorary Medical Officer at Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick, Sydney. In her clinical work, her signature is thorough assessment of each patient to both make an accurate diagnosis and understand the impact of the symptoms on the patient's life. This produces treatment plans which are both medical best practice and tailored to each patient's individual needs.

She has an active research interest in the role of the ocular surface in the generation of headache and using the eye as a portal to explore trigeminal nerve dysfunction in headache. She collaborates as a clinical researcher in a team looking to understand neurological disease by looking at ocular structures at the University of New South Wales and is an associate lecturer at that university. Katherine is a passionate medical educator and has facilitated and lectured masters level courses in Neurology at the University of Sydney. She assists in the physician training program at Prince of Wales Hospital and features as an invited speaker at medical education events.
